Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of the third episode show why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Questers and Planners groups.

Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
